John W. RogersJohn William Rogers, age 79, died November 13, 2014 in Kansas City, MO . He was born in Centreville, IA, on June 27, 1935, the son of John and Mildred (Morris) Rogers of Milan, MO. John grew up in Milan, graduating from Milan High School in 1953. He was also a graduate of the University of Missouri, College of Business Administration and the University of Wisconsin School of Banking. Shortly after graduating from college, John joined the Army Reserve and trained at Fort Leonard Wood and Fort Sill, OK. He started his career in banking in Kansas City as a national bank examiner for the Office of the Controller of the Currency. After a three year assignment in the Treasury Department in Washington, DC, he was promoted to Deputy Regional Administrator of National Banks for the Tenth National Bank region, covering seven Midwestern states and headquartered in Kansas City. Upon retirement in 1986, he was given the Albert Gallatin Award, the US Treasury's highest career service honor. After retirement he served as a consultant with E.L. Burch in Platte City, MO.

He was a longtime resident of Kansas City and a member the Church of the Resurrection there. John kept his ties with the University of Missouri where he was a member of the business school's Davenport Society and served on the Board of Directors of the Kansas City Chapter of the Missouri Alumni of Greater Kansas City. In 2001- 2002 he was named Kansas City Alumnus of the Year by the Missouri Business School and in 2006 received the school's Citation of Merit. John also kept close ties with his hometown friends over the years and greatly valued their friendships.

He is survived by his twin brother, Jim Rogers and his wife, Janet, of Arlington, Virginia; his niece Jennifer (Mike) Burke of Potomac Falls, VA; and his nephew John William Rogers, III (Dana) of Dyer, IN. He also leaves four grand-nephews, Sam, Alex, John William IV and Grant; and a grand-niece, Lila. For those wishing to remember John, a memorial gift to the United Methodist Church, Milan, MO, would be appreciated by the family. Visitation will be held Friday, November 21 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Burial and graveside service in Milan, MO on Saturday, November 22, 1:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery.
